Insomnia/Sleep Disorder

Would you like to have 6-8 hours of deep sleep each night? Have you had enough of pacing the floors, reading books, watching late night television, trying different prescription sleep remedies and natural sleeping pills, going to sleep clinics for sleep studies and even counting sheep?

How good would you feel after a deep, restful night’s sleep? Do you think your daily fatigue might become alleviated?

Does your sleep disorder cause you to become irritable?

Would getting a comprehensive neurological and metabolic evaluation that could pinpoint exactly why you are missing so many nights sleep, be too high a price? What would that evaluation be worth to you? Wouldn’t you agree that would be one of the best investments you could make?

Listen, you may be thinking to yourself, “I have tried everything and I mean everything; and nothing is ever going to fix my sleeping habits.” Let me tell you something, the real cause of your sleep disorder is stress.

Okay, maybe you are saying to yourself, “Of course, we all have stress, so what?”

Your body has a system that follows a natural circadian rhythm. Stress interrupts that normal circadian rhythm and causes your chronic sleep disorder also known as insomnia.

Stress comes in 3 forms:
a. Physical Stress – accidents, injuries, aches and pains
b. Chemical Stress – caffeine, poor diet, sodas, frequent use of medicines (including sleeping pills), smoking
c. Emotional Stress – traffic, news, taxes, your boss, spouse, deadlines, etc.

Your problem lies in how you handle your stress. Exercise and meditation may not be all there is that you need for your stress relief.

Let’s get back to your neurological system, metabolic system and your circadian rhythm; and how stress creates this interruption or imbalance that leads to your sleep disorder. Your neuroligical system is mainly comprised of your brain, brainstem and spinal cord and nerves. Your metabolic system (which works in conjunction with your nervous system) is made up of several parts, but one in particular – your adrenal system – is the main blame in your fight against insomnia.

You brain, as I mentioned earlier, has an extension called the brainstem. Stress causes one part of your brainstem to become hyperactive. That brainstem must be calmed down. This is the reason why your brain won’t ’shut-off’ at 3 am. A normal person should have their brainstem, particularly their upper brainstem, ‘firing’ it’s electrical impulses at a very hight rate at 3pm and at a very low rate of ‘firing’ at 3am. Insomnia patients all have their upper brainstem ‘firing’ high at 3 in the morning as well as high at 3 int he afternoon. The brain can’t sleep.

Your brain needs two kinds of fuel to run properly. 1. Oxygen and 2. Glucose. So, imbalances in either will cause the brain to not function at it’s optimal capacity. You should know that examining the dozens and dozens and dozens of insomnia patients I have helped get better and better and better have ALL had an oxygen depreciation in their blood and have had blood sugar imbalances.

Metabolically, and here is where it gets really interesting, your system must break down the sugars in your blood every 15 minutes to feed your brain  it’s other fuel which is Glucose. The only way your body can breakdown your glucose is by using a stress hormone called Cortisol. Cortisol is supplied by your adrenal system. Stress attacks your adrenal system and causes adrenal maladaptation or even adrenal exhasution. All night, every 15 minutes your brain needs glucose and your body is unable to produce the glucose because of adrenal system problems.

In some extreme chronic cases, there may be one more missing link.  Yet, the only way to determine that missing link is through a thorough consultation. This way we can determine which missing link that might be.

You don’t have to suffer anymore. You can sleep again. You can regulate your system.

You need a doctor who is compassionate about your problem, right? And you also wish to find a doctor who is competent in diagnosing the true cause of your sleep condition, right?

Millions of Americans are suffering just like you. Dozens, whose sleep disorders I have resolved, suffered like you. They are sleeping now, deeply, and you can too.

Remember, the prescription medications you are taking may have worked in the past…your body gets habituated to all stimulus. Change the way you are treating your condition. Regulate your circadian rhythm. Fix the mechanism that is the cause of your sleep disorder/insomnia.
